“A Little Bit More” Goes a Long Way

How Sean Becker, owner of Becker Roofing and Exteriors, went from down and out to out on roofs!

Everyone has a story. Stories tell the tale of our lives and families, where we come from, where we are going.

You have a story as to what brought you to this site. Maybe a recent hailstorm caused roof damage, and now you’re dealing with a leaky roof. Or maybe you’re here because you are researching trustworthy roofers who can replace your old, weathered roof with a new roof that will last! Maybe you ARE a roofer, looking for a new resource or knowledge about the roofing business. Maybe you clicked a link that brought you here out of curiosity.

We have our stories too, and THIS one in particular is the “Sales Story” of the owner of Becker Roofing & Exteriors, Sean Becker.

April 2010: His old work equipment... stolen. Moving in with his parents. Waiting tables.

This is where Sean Becker was in early 2010. Not exactly what a 27-year-old’s dreams are made of, especially one as independent as Sean. His only option was to continue to search for the next opportunity... something bigger, something better.

We’ve all been through the hamster wheel of updating our resume and sending it out for people to ignore or filter into an inbox folder, never to be seen again. And just like the everyone else, Sean did exactly that. The only two options that came from his efforts were an interview with a roofer and an interview with a bible salesman.

After taking into account that his parents had just purchased a new roof for more than the cost of a few new bibles, he decided roofing was the better choice for him.

He hit the ground running with his new position as a Roof Salesman, selling multiple roofs in a short time. It was an passion that would continue to grow throughout the years.

As much as he loved working outside, inspecting roofs, and truly helping people, he still needed to make ends meet. It had been six months and he was selling roofs, but closing the projects and getting paid just wasn’t happening!

After earning around $5k for the first six months of his efforts, he pressed on with the help of a new roofing contractor. Training that we have now wasn’t even an option at that time in the industry. It took Sean time, research, and staring at YouTube tutorials every evening to learn. He also put in countless hours of ride alongs with his boss to absorb as much as possible. Then things began to look up. By his 7th month in the roofing business, he began closing roof sales and achieving what he had worked so hard for.

In April of 2011, a year after starting his journey in roofing, Sean met a couple who were in need of a new roof. This became a turning point in his business. He performed a roof inspection for the couple and consequently ended up selling them a new roof. After that, he proceeded to sell 12 more roofs on the same street through personal referrals of his new customers. He then went on to sell another 12 more on the next street over, all from referrals! He knew he was on the right track.

By 2012, Sean bought a home with his beautiful fiancee. In 2013, they were married in Europe and spent their honeymoon traveling. Life looked a little different for the Beckers. Of course, they had more financial freedom as a result of Sean’s success in the industry, but the new career path in roofing had also offered Sean more freedom all around.

He now set his own hours, scheduling around things he had to accomplish around the schedules of his roofing customers and balancing family time. By doing this, he was able to be more efficient with his time.

In April of 2015, Sean opened up his first roofing business with a partner, SBMG Contracting. For three years, Sean poured all he had into the success of the company. His expanding list of customers trusted him with the roof over their heads and were constantly referring him to new clients. In 2018, Sean and his business partner decided to close down SBMG Contracting in order to open their own individual companies and support their growing families.

Life began to move faster for Sean, and it only continues to be more fulfilling due to his persistence, his dedication, and his desire to to always do “a little bit more” everyday. It was a process to get to this point in his career and life, and it was worth it.

“If you like it, stick with it. Work with patience and speed,” is Sean’s advice to those interested in the roofing business.

What does he mean by this?

Understand that it takes time and patience to reach your goals, but always be working towards accomplishing a task.

Hustle and make each day count.

Learn all you can.

Take advantage of training offered.

Realize that sometimes there may be roadblocks- such as a long insurance claim process or rough weather.

Regardless of a tough start, the detours you face or added study time it takes to achieve your own dreams, you can be successful- just look at Sean!

If you're in Coppell, Argyle, or Fort Worth, Texas, and looking for the best places to grab a free cup of water while you're out, we've done the research for you. In this guide, we'll highlight which fast food chains offer the cleanest and best-tasting free water, which ones you might want to avoid, and why ONIT’s home water filtration solutions are the best way to ensure your family gets the purest drinking water right from the tap. Depending on the location, water quality can vary due to aging municipal pipes, inconsistent maintenance of soda fountains, or the use of low-tier filtration systems. Factors that affect fast food water quality include: - **Municipal water source quality** – Some cities have better water treatment than others. - **Filtration system maintenance** – If a restaurant doesn’t regularly maintain its filters, impurities can still make their way into your cup. - **Ice machine cleanliness** – Ice is often made from unfiltered tap water, which can introduce contaminants. This is why it’s important to know where you can get the cleanest and freshest water for free while you're on the go. --- ## **Best Fast Food Restaurants for Free Clean Water** ### **1. Chick-fil-A** ✅ Uses high-quality filtration systems ✅ Offers complimentary filtered water ✅ Consistently high sanitation standards Chick-fil-A locations in **Coppell, Argyle, and Fort Worth** are known for providing high-quality customer service and clean facilities. DIY vs. Professional Roof Repairs: Making the Right Choice
By 7064529413 February 5, 2025
Key Highlights Different climates demand specific roofing materials for optimal performance. Consider factors like temperature variations, moisture levels, and wind exposure. Hot climates benefit from reflective materials like metal or clay tiles. Cold regions require durable options like metal, slate, or impact-resistant shingles. Coastal areas need corrosion-resistant materials like metal or treated wood. Introduction Choosing the right roofing materials is very important for protecting your home. Many homeowners do not realize how much climate affects a roof's lifespan and how well it works, especially during roof installation. Knowing how different roofing materials perform in different weather conditions can help you avoid expensive roof repairs and early replacements. It may also prevent damage inside your home. This guide on roofing options that suit your climate will help you make a smart and lasting choice for your home. Understanding Impact of Climate on Roofing Products & Materials Climate has a strong effect on how long your roof lasts and how well it works. Big changes in temperature, heavy rain, strong winds, and salt from the coast all cause damage over time. It is important to choose roofing materials that can handle these problems. This way, your roof will stay strong and protect your home for many years. If you do not pay attention to weather factors, the impact of climate on roofing products can cause many issues. You might end up with cracked or curled shingles, water leaks, mold growth, and even higher energy costs. By deciding to use materials that match your local climate, you can protect your home better and save on heating and cooling costs. Temperature Variations on Material Durability Temperature changes, especially big shifts from hot to cold, can greatly affect how long roofing systems last. Additionally, heavy winds can cause materials to change size with these temperature changes. This can cause stress and may lead to damage over time. For example, in areas that have hot summers and freezing winters, materials that can't handle this constant change might crack, twist, or get weak. It is essential for roofing materials to have a certain resistance to temperature changes. If they break down from the stress of temperature, they may not do a great job of keeping the roof secure, making it more likely to cause leaks and water damage. When choosing materials for your roof, it’s important to choose ones that fit your local climate. For places with large temperature changes, select materials that are flexible and can deal with thermal stress well. Metal roofs are one such option, famous for managing greater temperature changes without losing its strength. This could be an option somewhere like Texas, since we see that Fort Worth roofing alone is quite diverse. Moisture and Rainfall Effects on Roofing Options Regions with a lot of rain and humidity can create special problems for roofing materials, especially if proper drainage systems like gutters are not installed. When roofs stay wet, they can collect mold, mildew, and rot. This situation could lead to expensive roof repairs or even damage to the structure. It is important to choose materials that do not soak up moisture in these areas, which include metal, tile roofs (such as clay or concrete), and asphalt shingles treated with copper that resist algae. These materials are great at guiding water away and reducing the chance of water damage. In addition to selecting the right materials, proper roof ventilation is key in preventing moisture buildup in the attic space. Proper ventilation allows air to move freely, reducing the chance of condensation and moisture-related issues, including mold.
